Three days of golf, giving, and entertainment raised over $1 million for local charities at this year’s 18th Annual Governor’s Black-Tie Event held April 12-14, 2018 and presented by the Olympia Companies / Southern Highlands Charitable Foundation.  This incredible weekend was hosted by Nevada Governor, Brian Sandoval, and Olympia Companies CEO, Chairman, and President Garry Goett at the renowned Southern Highlands Golf Club and the M Resort Spa Casino.

As always, one highlight of the Event was the presentation of the prestigious Governor’s Philanthropist of the Year Award—this year given to Clark County Sheriff, Joseph Lombardo. Governor Sandoval presented the award to Sheriff Lombardo in recognition of his more than three decades of service to the people of Southern Nevada and for his exceptional leadership in the wake of the One October tragedy including the establishment of the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund, which raised more than $22 million.

Following the Gala, the weekend’s activities included a golf tournament at the exclusive Southern Highlands Golf Club and culminated with the Governor’s Grand Bash on Saturday evening, featuring a one-of-a-kind live auction and a private performance by four-time Grammy Award-winning, chart-topping music superstar Keith Urban. Supporting sponsors included Olympia Companies, M Resort Spa Casino, Land Rover Las Vegas, Cox Communications, Cox Automotive, Las Vegas Paving, Slater Hanifan, Rafael Construction, Lightspeed VT, and countless more.

Charitable beneficiaries of this year’s Invitational included the Assistance League of Las Vegas, Discovery Children’s Museum, Opportunity Village, Andson, Candlelighters, Boys & Girls Club, Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, and Children’s Heart Foundation.  Since its founding, the Governor’s Black-Tie has raised more than $18 million dollars to support various nonprofit organizations providing assistance to children and families in need throughout Las Vegas.
